JHP Employability is delighted to announce that we have been selected by the Department of Work and Pensions to deliver the Jobcentre Plus Support Contract.
This five-year contract has been awarded to the Employability Division of JHP Group, JHP Employability, with the aim of improving employment rates and reducing skills gaps, with particular emphasis on individuals who are unemployed, receiving Jobseekers Allowance, and requiring “up-skilling” to find employment. Clients are eligible after six months of unemployment, although clients with additional or multiple barriers to employment may benefit from support through this contract earlier.
JHP Employability will now be able to support many more job seekers across four geographical areas, including:
Coventry & Warwickshire; Marches & Staffordshire,
Cumbria & Lancashire,
Highlands, Islands Clyde Coast & Grampian; Forth Valley, Fife & Tayside, Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders;
Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire; Ayrshire, Dumfries, Galloway and Inverclyde.
Further information will be announced soon.
JHP Employability Coventry is pleased to announce that it has recently won a contract to provide basic and employability skills training to Jobcentre Plus customers, brought about following a new government initiative to help people get back to work.
The programme provides encouragement and support to all adults looking to improve their literacy, language and numeracy skills in order to find employment and JHP Coventry's friendly staff are eager to welcome newcomers to the programme and help them achieve their employment ambitions.
The employability award is based on the skills, behaviours and attitudes that employers want to see in a new recruit and as such the programme is personalised to each Jobcentre Plus customer to ensure a high success rate. During the programme, learners will take part in various activities including:
All of the training offered by JHP Coventry is nationally recognised and will put learners in a better position to find a job they enjoy.
JHP Coventry celebrates a successful partnership this month thanks to the delivery of Customer Service qualifications to staff at an Asian Hair and Beauty salon.
Rivaaj, which prides itself on client satisfaction, has been taking lessons in customer service from JHP Training to help staff at the salon gain important work-based qualifications to help improve their job related skills.
Initially four employees were signed up to undertake qualifications in Customer Service at Level 2, and since JHP’s Trainer Assessor Lisa Hunter has been teaching the qualification, a further six employees have started NVQs as well! Manager Sandy Sembi is over the moon and said:
“Since starting the qualification the girls in the salon are now more motivated. They have taken what they’ve learned from their qualification and have applied it directly to their jobs, all to the pleasure of our clients. I really hope that our partnership with JHP Training continues as it has really worked for Rivaaj.”
One employee who began at Rivaaj last December and has recently started her training is employee Paveran Preet Sandhu, aged 23. She is working towards an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3,
“I have just started my qualification and I can already see how much it will help me with my job. The customers seem pleased with the changes it is making and it will definitely improve the service the shop offers. I’m really keen to continue learning, so once I finish this qualification I’d really like to do another.”
JHP Training Coventry nominated Apprentice Lisa Daniels, an employee at Pulse Recruitment, for the
recent Training Excellence Awards and her nomination paid off!
Lisa, who made the short list with another four people in her category, was commended for the strength of her nomination and successfully made it through to the finals of the Apprentice of the Year category for Coventry and Warwickshire.
Unfortunately Lisa was ‘pipped at the post’ to first prize, but it wasn’t too much of a disappointment she still got to attend the ceremony and receive her £100 reward.
Lisa has worked hard to gain qualifications and has completed two Apprenticeships in Customer Service and Business Administration and is currently doing a Customer Service Advanced Apprenticeship which she aims to complete very soon.
Well done Lisa, we wish you the best of success.
