Eligibility
There
are no formal minimal requirements for entry to a JHP Training qualification,
but in order to succeed and get the most from the programme, you need
to be enthusiastic, committed and hard working.
- NVQ
Stand alone NVQs are available for individuals of all ages, but are recommended for those over the age of 25 who are likely to have previous experience.
- Apprenticeships
Are open to everyone living in England and Wales who are not currently in full-time education. Entry requirements are flexible because Apprenticeships aren't just based on academic achievement, practical skills and a genuine interest in the area of work you have chosen are also taken into account.
Funding
The Government has highlighted the importance of vocational training in developing the nation’s skills base and as a result has allocated money to fund training for eligible candidates.
You will be eligible for Government funded training if you meet the following criteria*:
- Apprenticeships
Those aged between 16 and 24.
- Adult Apprenticeships
Those aged over 25.
- NVQ
Aged over 19 who do not already hold a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).

Apprenticeships
Earn while you learn; as an employed Apprentice you will be paid at least £95 per week by your employer.
Additional Funding
Depending on the type of qualification you are undertaking, you may also be able to get a small amount of funding to help with travel or childcare costs.
