Christine Egginton
Employability Administrator

Time in current job:  9 years

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like the variety there is always something different to do. I enjoy working with people.

What personal qualities are required to perform this role well?
Versatility, flexibility, patience and understanding

How have you developed and grown in the role?
I started on an adult course at JHP Training in 1999 and was employed in January 2000 as an Assistant Systems Controller. From an adult trainee knowing nothing about computers or pay role, I have now developed myself to an extent where other centres are sending Apprentices to me for training.

In what way does working for JHP Employability help you maintain a good work/life balance?
I have two sons - one is about to embark on a three year university course and the other has just left school and is going to college for a year and before beginning an Apprenticeship. The experience I have gained while worked for JHP Employability has helped me guide my sons through their education - working in this industry gives you so much insight into young people.

What do you consider to be valuable rewards and benefits of working for JHP Employability?
After working in a factory for 20 years, it was so rewarding to be given a chance by JHP Employability to prove to myself that I could achieve more. Working in this industry has benefited my family enormously - I have been able to offer advice and guidance to my children on their futures.

How do you see your future?
The Employability side of the industry is growing at a rate of knots. We are currently opening a new centre in Hanley and have employed a new administrator to mirror my role - I am currently training the candidate for this role.  In October, we will be starting a new contract called Flexible New Deal which will require an administrator and I will be delivering the training for this as well.  So my future looks very busy.

A day in my life…
My day would start by taking messages from learners – I work on reception answering the telephone and greeting visitors. One of my duties is to administer EMA payment which includes helping learners to complete their packs, chasing any queries they may have and also inputting payments for EMA and travel weekly. I register and set tests up for all learners on to Campus and input and exit all learners onto the Maytas system.

These are only some of my duties -  others I would carry out on a monthly basis include petty cash, staff returns, staff expenses, staff holidays, timesheets, TPS, learner tracking and auditing files.

JHP Group actively promotes and supports equality of opportunity for all, regardless of ability, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religious belief.
