Vanessa Morris
Sales Consultant

Time in current job: 3 Years

Are you office-based or do you work remotely?
I work remotely, which gives me the flexibility to undertake my duties based at home whilst attending meetings and appointments

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Having the autonomy with regards to my Time Management and how I prioritise my working schedule. Engaging with employers and providing them with the relevant information and guidance regarding NVQ’s, Apprenticeship and Skills for Life provisions. Meeting employees who wish to progress their skills and knowledge by undertaking Work-Based Qualifications. Networking with external and internal contacts.

What personal qualities are required to be a good Sales Consultant?
I feel it is important to have good ‘Soft Skills’ (e.g. Communication, Interpersonal, positive Personality Traits, Team working, Negotiation and Time Management). To be a Sales Consultant, you must be self motivated and driven in order to be successful.

How have you developed and grown in the role?
Throughout my time with JHP Training I have developed numerous skills, such as; Presentation skills, as I have to liaise with all levels of management when selling qualifications. Undertaking Team Leader and Management qualifications as part of my own Personal development. Having the confidence in my own abilities as a Sales Consultant.
Being able to meet and exceed my targets on a quarterly basis.

What do you see as the biggest challenges of your job?
I would say that engaging with larger organisations that have the potential to yield a greater number of learners can be a challenge. Also winning business from our competitors can be quite challenging, however JHP Training have a proven track record and can overcome any objections.

Can you recall your proudest moment and biggest success in your job?
Well, as I have a competitive nature, one of my biggest successes would be winning the business of a large company from one of our competitors. I am most proud of being able to up skill employees and add value to the business.

How do you see your future?
There are many career paths that are available, such as National Accounts Team or  Managerial.  I do feel that I have a career here at JHP Training, and will also get the support I need to continue in which area of the business I choose.

A day in my life…

As no two days are exactly the same in Sales, a typical day consists of cold calling on several potential employers to introduce JHP Training. After this I will follow up on leads sent through to me by the Contact Centre at Head Office. These calls should lead to further meetings and so I need to make time to book all my appointments, meetings and events like Roadshows into my diary so that I make the most effective use of my time. Most days I will also have to do my Sales specific administration and signing up candidates onto qualifications as well as data entry on candidates on the e-Track system. Altogether a busy but satisfying day as I am meeting new people all the time.

JHP Group actively promotes and supports equality of opportunity for all, regardless of ability, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religious belief.
